About Mothership Vans
Mothership Vans builds modern homes on wheels for people who want real freedom without giving up comfort, design, or connection.
Each van is a fully integrated basecamp—power, water, climate, storage, and connectivity all working quietly in the background so you can focus on the trip, not the systems.
How Mothership Started
Mothership began in 2019 with a simple question:
What would a van look like if it were designed as a primary home, not just a weekend rig?
Founder Shaiden Valentine set out to answer that by combining real off-grid capability with the calm, intentional feel of a well-designed apartment.
Early builds were tested on highways, forest roads, and long surf runs—every mile refining the layouts, systems, and details that define Mothership Vans today.
What We Build
We design and build high-end, turn-key adventure vans that are:
Capable – All-wheel-drive platforms, off-road hardware, and systems designed for real weather and real distance.
Comfortable – Quiet cabins, thoughtful lighting, and spaces that feel calm and livable day after day.
Connected – Starlink, onboard networking, and smart controls so you can work, create, and stay in touch from almost anywhere.
From the first sketch, each Mothership is treated as a complete environment—not a van with parts.
Our Design Principles
Integrated Systems
Power, climate, water, lighting, storage, and connectivity are planned as one ecosystem.
Fewer switches, fewer steps, fewer chances for something to be “almost right.”
Calm, Functional Spaces
Layouts are built around how you actually live: cooking, working, resetting, sleeping, and storing gear.
Surfaces stay clean, everything has a home, and transitions between “drive,” “work,” and “relax” modes feel effortless.
Materials with Intention
Teak, premium fabrics, acoustic treatments, and marine-grade fixtures are chosen not just to look good, but to age well and feel solid in motion.
How We Work
A Mothership build is a collaboration, not a transaction.
Discovery – We learn how you travel, work, and live now—and what you want your life to look like on the road.
Concept & Layout – We translate that into a clear floor plan, capability profile, and options that support your lifestyle.
Design & Spec – Materials, finishes, and systems are dialed in with a focus on longevity, simplicity, and serviceability.
Build – Our team brings the design to life with tight tolerances and obsessive attention to detail.
Handoff – You take delivery in San Diego and get oriented to the major systems so you can start using your Mothership with confidence.
A Community of Explorers
Mothership Vans is for people who value independence, thoughtful design, and time outside more than square footage.
Owners range from remote workers and creatives to athletes and families, using their vans as real homes, studios, and basecamps.
The van is not the destination—it’s the tool that makes a larger life possible.
Founder
Shaiden Valentine
Shaiden is an entrepreneur and designer with a deep curiosity for how people live, move, and feel in space.
He grew up drawn to technology, architecture, and the outdoors—and Mothership Vans is where those interests intersect. His approach is equal parts analytical and creative: systems diagrams, field notes, and many iterations before a detail is considered “done.”
Shaiden spends as much time as possible in the vans he designs—long drives, remote workdays, and quiet nights off-grid are all part of the process. The goal is always the same: vans that feel intelligent, understated, and effortless to live in—no matter where they’re parked.
